“Research Institute of Food Safety” was established in 2011 on the basis of the Research Institute of Food Technologies.

NII PB is a structural scientific institution of the ATU, established to carry out R & D on the state budget and economic agreements with enterprises and organizations, conducting scientific basic and applied research on a wide range in the food industry.

The goal of the research institute is system planning, effective organization of scientific research, and participation in the training of highly qualified personnel.

The main objectives of the research institute are:
– coordination of the work activities of the structural units of the research institute;

– development and strengthening of material and technical base;
– participation in the development of scientific and technical programs of projects of the Republic of Kazakhstan, international grants and research funds;
– assistance to the formation of highly qualified scientific personnel on the problems of food safety of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
– organization of the educational process in educational food safety services using both modern achievements of science and the results of own research;
– development of international relations.

The Institute carries out:

– monitoring the quality of raw materials and products in the course of the technological process of production (bread, dairy, meat products);
– performance of certain types of physicochemical and microbiological analyzes;
– development of regulatory and technological documents for test and new products;
– assistance to the educational process in the implementation of experimental work for students, undergraduates, PhD doctoral students;
– development and improvement of test methods, planning processing and analysis of experimental results

The microbiology department of the laboratory is authorized to work with microorganisms of pathogenicity groups III and IV and carry out the following types of analyzes: determination of bacteria of the group of intestinal sticks, Salmonella, mold, yeast, aureus, clostridia, the number of mesophilic aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms.


The trinocular microscope MC 300TX is intended for direct microscopy of preparations, ensures the detection of this image on the screen. With the help of a trinocular attachment for the MC300 series, images can be photographed.

On the high-performance liquid chromatograph Agilent-1200 with diode-matrix and fluorescent detectors are determined:

The main fields of application of the spectrometer are ecology, food industry, geology, metallurgy, other industries, scientific research. The device is used for quantitative determination:

Amino acids (arginine, lysine, tyrosine, phenylalanine, histidine, leucine and isoleucine, methionine, valine, proline, threonine, serine, alanine, glycine, cystine, aspartic acid and aspargin, glutamic acid and glutamine, tryptophan)


ABC voltammetric analyzer is used to determine:

    The laboratory conducts tests of products in a specific area of accreditation ( for compliance with safety requirements (physical, chemical and microbiological tests, quantitative chemical analysis).

    The laboratory has established and maintained a management system, for the functioning of which the necessary procedures, programs and instructions have been developed.

    Scientific Research Laboratory for Assessing the Quality and Safety of Food Products NIL OKBPP was created to carry out R & D on food safety of raw materials and products for which safety indicators are established.

    The main objectives of the activities of the OKLBL Research Laboratory are:
    – conducting research on a wide range of topical issues in the field of food safety of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

    – participation in the development of scientific and technical programs of projects of the Republic of Kazakhstan, international grants and research funds;
    – participation in the training of highly qualified specialists in the problems of food safety of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
    – participation in the organization of the educational process using both modern achievements of science and the results of own research;
    development and strengthening of the material and technical base of the educational process and scientific research.

    The laboratory conducted tests for the presence of GMOs on the device “ANK-32”. The ANK-32 nucleic acid analyzer is intended for the qualitative and quantitative determination of nucleic acid fragments using real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR-RV), as well as for determining the melting point of DNA fragments.

    The device is used for conducting clinical tests, in forensic medical examination, as well as for sanitary and environmental monitoring, allows for:
    – quantitative analysis of specific DNA in a wide range of concentrations;
    – detection and determination of the percentage of DNA with a modified sequence;
    – exclusion of post-amplification manipulations with the product and, as a result, reduction of the risk of contamination, – saving time and reducing the cost of maintaining a PCR laboratory.

    The research laboratory is designed to perform experimental work of students, undergraduates and PһD doctoral students using modern devices:

    - Apparatus doped fiber content FIWE-3/6, VEL scientific - to determine the total fiber content;
    - Rotary viscometer Reotest RN 4.1 with software - for viscosity determination;
    - Luminoscope Filin - to determine the quality of products by luminescence in ultraviolet rays;
    - Electrophoresis device - to study the fractional composition of the protein;
    and other devices for studying the physicochemical parameters of products.
